Balance Your Home Using Color!

Decorating your home can be a daunting task. Picking the right colors, patterns and textures can hard, but that's where SWI comes in right?! Color is something that can be the foundation of a home, or even a design. Thankfully, there are some easy steps/ideas to follow with color that will help balance your home, while still keeping it unique and interesting. Here they are....

You can also balance your home by using color and Feng Shui Bagua, at the same time! Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese practice that is all about balancing energy. Using Bagua, a map that delineates nine areas of your home and relates them to aspects of your life, you can achieve a desired balance.

To read the map properly, think of your home as a grid and that the front middle is where you enter your home. For a perfectly balanced home energy, incorporate all the colors with paint, furniture, decor or whatever works best for you and your style.

Vintage Inspired Lampshades

Need some lampshade ideas? Check out these cool ones that caught our eye while browsing through the new issue of The World of Interiors. The shades are produced by graphic designer Alessandro Poli and architect Francesca De Giorgi, who have been designing since 2007. Unfortunately, the shades are only available in the UK right now, but they are great examples of how to add some color, fun and unique forms to your home.

"The duo is inspired by vintage forms re- searched from an archive that dates back more than 50 years, they then re-interpret the old style of lampshades adding unusual trimmings to salvaged materials such as army blankets, old velvet theatre curtains or screenprint fabrics with innovative and provocative images commissioned from artists with whom they collaborate."
